Sales of fitted kitchens are up 35% at John Lewis. This reflects a growing trend for customers to personalise and invest in home improvements. Sales of range cookers are also up 40% year on year for the past six months.

Matt Thomas, buyer for fitted furniture at John Lewis, says that the Leckford range of fitted kitchens, with it’s classic painted look, has become a best-seller while solid colours are becoming more popular in worktops with stone or a solid surface material such as Corian.

Thomas predicts a rise in customers personalising their homes with colour, material, shape and texture, “Instead of thinking about the resale value, they are choosing designs that they love and want to live with for years to come.”

John Lewis has over 45 different styles with hundreds of colour and finish options for different tastes and budgets. The Windsor range is new for 2010 providing the first ‘in-frame’ kitchen from John Lewis, which creates a Shaker style look with a handmade feel. All of John Lewis kitchens come with a free five-year guarantee.
