Easy to install children’s play equipment for the garden

Thursday, 24 May 2012 3:32 PM

The sun is out and everyone wants to spend time outdoors, including your children.
Play equipment or a play house is a great addition to a family garden and housefixer.co.uk has tracked down our favourite equipment which is easy to install and great fun.

For a basic playhouse look no further than the Sunflower Tower from Tesco, pictured above. The wooden playhouse is covered in cladding with a solid sheet floor and roof. It could be painted or left as is with a stain over the wood. This wooden playhouse features a Georgian style door with safety hinge, four windows and a balcony. For climbing there is a ladder and safety rail to keep children in while up on the balcony. You will need two people to assemble the tower playhouse but everything is included in the kit and it comes with an instruction manual. For more information visit the website.

Child's swingFor younger children setup a swing off a balcony or tree. The Wooden Toy Gallery has a fantastic swing that looks like a horse. It is handcrafted from wood and was designed to evoke children’s imaginations. Once in the swing the child is safely locked in with front hand rail and back support. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use with adjustable ropes to attain the correct length. Fixing brackets are not supplied with the swing but you can get these from any local hardware store.

Child's play houseLike something out of a Doctor Seuss book this crooked playhouse is sure to be a winner with the children this summer. The playhouse is from Pedal Pushers and created with fun in mind. It has a novelty door, port holes, ladder and a slide. Made from pre-treated fir the playhouse is stained to create the vivid colours. Inside there is plenty of space for play and it even has a light and a chimney. This one comes ready to go just choose a level area of the yard for placement. For more information visit the website.

If a permanent fixture is not something you want in the garden there is another option. All children enjoy a game of cowboys and indians and this tee-pee is the perfect hideout for the indians. The Wigwam tent from Dotty Hippo is made from cotton and embroidered with mountains, cacti and a horse wagon. It has a light aluminium frame and can be assembled at any time.Child's play tent
