Drip dry hallway solutions

Friday, 24 February 2012 3:47 PM

Spring showers should soon be upon us and it is time to consider the wet clutter that usually builds up in your entry or hallway.

Everything from soaked umbrellas, damp coats and soppy shoes will be traipsed in through your front door and left to drip dry inside your home.

But there are plenty of solutions to keep the rain at bay when it comes to your hallway or entrance room.

First on the list is to invest in a stylish but useful umbrella stand.

Weave baskets make a great umbrella stand as they catch the majority of water and because they are made of natural materials they dry easily.

When space is an issue, consider a wall pocket you can hang for storage of wet items.

The Holding Company has a range of pockets that can be used to store everything from gloves and scarves to umbrellas and shoes.

Wet shoes are often trodden inside the house leaving footprints throughout your home.

A clever way to stop this is to buy a floor tray that can be left at the front door as a reminder to take off shoes.

Once placed in the tray it will catch the water and can be easily emptied and wiped over.

Finally, set up a coat rack for wet garments.

If you are short on space install some hooks to the back of the front door.

Just remember the coats will not dry unless they are near an air source so the ideal position for a coat rack will be near a window or air conditioning vent.

With these simple changes to your interior the wet season will be a breeze.
